The in-home Consultation/Evaluation is 90 minutes. Our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) meets with you in your home environment or outdoor environment (depending on what goals or issues pertain to) to hear your concerns or goals, prioritize your goals, observes the target behavior, analyzes the function of the behavior and provides the beginning steps to a science based behavior treatment plan.
The phone consultation is useful for assistance in between trainings if the client is in need, has questions or any additional concerns. The phone consultation is also useful to gain perspective on our methods, possible behavior strategies or trouble shooting with basic developmental behaviors.
Training sessions following the in vivo Consultation/Evaluation (mandatory) are 60 mins. Clients are provided with hands on teaching, strategies, and exercises to work on until the next step in the training process. This is our ideal style of training because the knowledge and tools are placed in the hands of those the dog interacts with the most. Understanding how to communicate with your dog is the key to building a relationship built on respect, love and trust.
The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program is the gold standard of behavior for dogs in our communities. The CGC program offers many practical advantages too. The CGC award is a prerequisite for many therapy dog groups. Some homeowner’s insurance companies encourage CGC testing, and an increasing number of apartments and condos require that resident dogs pass the CGC test. We evaluate and train the skills necessary to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Natasha is a Certified AKC CGC evaluator.
Therapy dog training provides you with the ability to volunteer or work in an environment with your dog. We conduct and evaluation, and train the testing items, as well as other skills (if prerequisites needed). We have a 100% pass rate for those who complete our Therapy Dog Training.
Following the Initial Consultation/Evaluation, Obedience training is geared toward your goals and your dog's current skill set. Whether you are interested in the basics or more advanced skills, we teach you so that you may continue to work with your dog and increase the learning acquisition as well as have instructional control so the behaviors are generalized and maintained.
This service assists those who want their dog to achieve skills, such as walking on a leash nicely, obedience, community manners etc, but would like the beginning stages of the training to be conducted by the Behaviorist. The Behaviorist provides updates then arranges trainings with the family to ensure the family learns how to also teach the skills with the correct rate of reinforcement, prompting etc. This is the most important aspect, otherwise the dog will only respond to the Behaviorist.
